Guitarstrophe 2007 Dawin & England Tour Dr. John Casey’s band of musicians have recently returned from an extensive concert tour which saw them travel to the tropical city of Darwin and then to the warm and sunny place fondly known as England. Oops…. Click here for the full story by Caroline Berrer
On May 12th, Guitarstrophe held its first concert for the year at the Churchlands Senior High School music auditorium.
The concert, featured works such as Concerto by Patrick Roux, Bresils by Roland Dyens as well as Richard Charlton’s Rhapsody and A Place in the Wilderness by Mark Clement Pollard, both written specially for the ensemble by Australian composers. The concert was extremely well received, with both members of the ensemble and its musical director Dr John Casey receiving tremendous positive feedback. In early July, Guitarstrophe will perform for the sixth time at the world renowned Darwin International Guitar Festival, which has held highly acclaimed performers such as John Williams, Stepan Rak, Maximo Diego Pujol, The Saffire Quartet and Carlo Barone to name a few. While there, Guitarstrophe will premiere a piece written for them by Tim Hansen, called Trouble in the Ribcage. Directly after the festival, Guitarstrophe! will embark
on its second European tour. The ensemble has been invited to attend
both the Calderdale Guitar Festival near Manchester and the World
Youth Guitar Festival, the first event of its kind. While in England,
the ensemble will record a CD with prominent European guitarists, the
Eden-Stell Guitar Duo and promote
the recording through a concert tour of Winchester.
